About our Post-traumatic Stress Rehabilitation Program

Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a condition that is triggered by either experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event.

It is common to experience fear, sadness, anxiety and a sense of disconnection after a traumatic event. However, it the feelings do not fade, you feel like you may never move forward from what happened, feel un-safe or are having difficulty coping with the day-to-day functions of life, it is likely that you are dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder.

PTSD symptoms will vary from person to person, they may also vary in intensity based on what is happening around you. For many people the intensity of symptoms will increase when they are stressed or if they are triggered by a reminder of the event.

Post-traumatic stress disorder is often caused by a complex mix of factors, and there is no rule to say what is and what is not “traumatic” for a person.

Factors may include but are not limited to:

  • Experiencing stressful or traumatic experiences – especially in early life -and the amount and severity of trauma you've gone through in your life
  • Family history of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression or PTSD
  • History of abuse in any form
  • Lack of coping skills
  • The way your brain regulates the chemicals and hormones your body releases in response to stress

Living with PTSD can be exhausting. If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms, please contact us today to discuss treatments options with one of our team.
